Rajasthan’s Banswara police have arrested the man believed to be the key conspirator behind an inter-state counterfeit currency racket.

Identified as Sukhlal Sangada, a resident of Therka village in Jhalod taluka, the accused allegedly taught others how to print fake currency notes.

Sangada is accused of mentoring his brother-in-law, Sukhram Tamboliya, who was earlier arrested after fake notes worth ₹2.19 lakh were seized from his home.

The racket, spread across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat, has so far led to the arrest of 10 individuals and the recovery of fake currency in ₹100, ₹200, and ₹500 denominations amounting to ₹3.60 lakh.

The Anandpuri police from Rajasthan, recently expanded to Gujarat with arrests in Sanjeli and Jhalod.

During interrogation, Kamlesh Tamboliya, another accused, confessed to having printed fake notes worth ₹5 lakh in a rented house in Dahod’s Padav area using a laptop and printer brought from Rajasthan. One of these printers was later returned to Sangada.

Sangada the teacher not only trained others in counterfeiting but also supplied equipment used in the production in Gujarat.

Police have seized all related equipment, including printers and laptops, from the Dahod premises.

Investigations indicate that the gang used local contacts to circulate counterfeit notes across state borders.

While ₹3.68 lakh in fake notes has been officially seized, police are probing whether the full ₹5 lakh printed in Dahod has been circulated, and if so, through which channels.
