A 32-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, Bhaveshbhai Makwana, was allegedly thrown from the fifth floor of his residence by his wife’s relatives following a heated family argument, police said.

Baldevbhai Makwana (61), a resident of Sector-3, Vadaj, in Ahmedabad, in his complaint stated that the tragedy unfolded on October 21. A dispute between Bhavesh and his wife Bhavana escalated when her family intervened.

Baldevbhai’s complaint detailed that his daughter-in-law’s mother Madhuben Narsinghbhai, along with her son-in-law Naresh, daughter Hansaben, and her brother’s son Mehul and his wife, arrived at the house and verbally abused Bhavesh. The argument reportedly turned violent, with multiple relatives allegedly assaulting Bhavesh inside the house and in the kitchen, where one of the accused struck him with a cooker.

The FIR alleges that the assailants then dragged Bhavesh to a corner of the house and, in a deliberate act of violence, threw him from the fifth-floor kitchen window. Bhavesh’s body was found on the parking tiles behind the block, with severe head injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The complaint mentions that Bhavana and her relatives acted collectively in the assault, and the family claims that the attack was premeditated with the intention to kill.

Vadaj police have registered a case and launched a thorough investigation into the incident. Statements are being recorded from family members and witnesses. Vadaj police have detained all the accused in the matter, and further investigation is going on.

A police official said, “Preliminary reports suggest the assault was carried out by multiple individuals. Our investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances and motives behind this grievous act.”
