Man stabbed in Mirzapur street brawl, four relatives booked for attempted murder

A 30-year-old man was seriously injured after being stabbed during a family dispute that escalated into a violent brawl in Mirzapur, Ahmedabad, late on Tuesday night. The Shahpur police have registered a case of attempted murder against four individuals, all reportedly related to the victim.
The complaint by Iqbal Ahmed Sheikh, a 42-year-old furniture trader residing in Mirzapur, states that the incident took place around 9.15 pm on July 14 outside Becharuthar’s Dahla, where the complainant and several members of his extended family reside.
Iqbal stated that upon returning home from his shop, he saw his maternal uncle, Samim Sheikh, engaged in a heated argument with four of their relatives, identified as Musseb Sharifbhai Sheikh, Umer Mohammad Ali Sheikh, Abdullah Liaquat Sheikh, and Mohammad Ali Ishaq Sheikh. All four were allegedly armed with knives.
When Iqbal tried to intervene and stop the fight, he was allegedly attacked by the group, who punched and kicked him, escalating the confrontation. At that moment, Iqbal’s brother-in-law, Mohammad Ejaz Sheikh, arrived at the scene and attempted to separate the parties.
According to the FIR, the accused reportedly shouted, “He enjoys making peace, finish him off,” before launching a targeted assault on Ejaz.
During the altercation, Umer Sheikh allegedly stabbed Ejaz in the left hand, while Mohammad Ali Ishaq Sheikh stabbed him in the left side of the abdomen, causing severe bleeding and semi-consciousness. The group then reportedly fled the scene, taking advantage of the crowd that had gathered.
Iqbal, along with a friend, Fahad Sheikh, rushed Ejaz to SVP Hospital on a motorbike. Doctors found that the knife remained lodged in Ejaz's abdomen. He was taken in for emergency surgery and remains under observation.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the motive may stem from an earlier dispute over a two-wheeler repair involving family members. The accused are alleged to have harboured resentment after Ejaz attempted to mediate the matter earlier that day.
The Shahpur police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempted murder and causing grievous hurt with deadly weapons. The investigation has been handed over to the local police station, and statements from witnesses, including Iqbal, Ejaz, family members, and onlookers, are being recorded.
All four accused are currently absconding, and police have launched a search operation to trace their whereabouts.
