Man stabbed after altercation with auto driver in Navrangpura

A 41-year-old man was allegedly stabbed with a sharp weapon following a road rage incident involving an autorickshaw driver between the busy Girish Cold Drinks and Wagh Bakri Tea Lounge point in Navrangpura, Ahmedabad on Thursday morning.
Navdeepbhai Gambhir Singh Gadhvi, a resident of Amraiwadi, sustained injuries to his upper waist and is currently undergoing treatment at a city hospital. He remains conscious and out of danger.
As per Gadhvi's complaint, the incident occurred around 10.15 am on April 9 when he was travelling to his office in Navrangpura on a two-wheeler. Near the junction, an autorickshaw was allegedly being driven recklessly, forcing nearby vehicles, including Gadhvi’s, to narrowly avoid collisions.
Gadhvi stated that after overtaking the rickshaw, he questioned the driver about his manner of driving. This led to a heated exchange, during which the driver allegedly began verbally abusing him and issuing death threats. An unidentified accused seated in the rickshaw also joined in the altercation, police said.
When Gadhvi refused to engage in the abuse, the situation escalated further. The unidentified man allegedly produced a sharp, knife-like weapon and attacked Gadhvi, striking him on the right side above the waist. The accused fled the spot immediately after the assault.
Bystanders alerted emergency services, and the injured man was rushed to hospital in a 108 ambulance.
Navrangpura police have registered an offence against the autorickshaw driver and the unidentified assailant on charges including causing hurt with a weapon, criminal intimidation, and abusive conduct.
Efforts are under way to identify and apprehend the accused persons, officials said, adding that CCTV footage from the area is being examined as part of the probe.
