The city again grapples with a crime as a man opens fire on a neighbour in Ahmedabad’s Chandkheda area.

Dharmesh Bharwad, owner of a paan shop near Tapovan Circle, lodged a complaint against his neighbour Harisinh Champawat and his brother for firing five rounds at him on the night of Jan 11.

The accused and Bharwad have a five-year-long dispute over a road passing adjacent to their houses in the neighbourhood. A court case is also underway in this matter.

On the night of the incident, around 11 p.m., Harisinh Champawat and his brother Chandansinh Champawat arrived at Bharwad’s shop and got into an argument with him over the court case.

After Bharwad’s uncle reprimanded the brothers and asked them to stop cursing, they both fled the scene.

But a few moments later, Champawat again arrived at the shopalong with the other four individuals in a car .

Before Bharwad could react, Champawat pointed a gun at him and started firing gunshots.

However, Bharwad dodged the bullets and was able to save himself.

The incident was caught on a CCTV camera, and the footage went viral.

In the footage, the accused was seen firing indiscriminately with a pistol, causing panic in the onlookers. He and his aides then absconded in the sedan.

The Chandkheda police have filed a case against Harisinh Champawat and others, launching a probe.
