Man in Ahmedabad accused of misusing credit cards to withdraw nearly ₹7 lakh

The Satellite Police have registered a complaint against a city-based man who allegedly misused three credit cards entrusted to him by a woman, withdrawing nearly ₹7 lakh from October 5 to 12, 2024. The accused, Devang Rajubhai Bhadresha, and his wife Shreya Bhadresha, have also been named in the complaint.
The complaint was lodged by the victim Punamben Babubhai Rajput, 33, a resident of Ellisbridge, she had handed over her three credit cards – from SBI, HDFC, and Axis Bank – to Devang Bhadresha in October 2024, after he assured her that he would improve her credit score by making legitimate transactions. Bhadresha, who operates a credit card swiping service, had promised to return the cards within a few days.
However, between October 5 and 12, Bhadresha allegedly withdrew a total of ₹6.99 lakh using her cards – ₹1 lakh from her SBI card on October 5, ₹4 lakh from her HDFC card on October 7, and ₹1.99 lakh from her Axis Bank card on October 12. According to Rajput, she did not receive any one-time passwords (OTPs) or transaction alerts for these withdrawals.
When she approached Bhadresha and demanded the return of her credit cards, she alleges that he repeatedly assured her that the money would be repaid to the banks. Despite her repeated reminders, he failed to return the cards or settle the outstanding amounts. Rajput further claims that Bhadresha’s wife, Shreya, was aware of the situation and blatantly refused to repay the money, daring her to file a police complaint.
Rajput stated in her complaint that, due to unemployment for the past few months, she could not approach the police earlier. However, she has now sought legal action against the couple for cheating and breach of trust.
Satellite Police have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust against Devang Bhadresha and his wife.
