Man held with mephedrone worth ₹3.5 lakh opp SOG office in Juhapura
The State Monitoring Cell (SMC) of Ahmedabad Police has arrested one person for possession of mephedrone worth over ₹3.42 lakh in a late-night anti-narcotics raid near the Maulana Azad Society gate, opposite the SOG office in Juhapura. The raid, conducted between July 31 and August 1, also led to the seizure of a two-wheeler and a mobile phone, taking the total value of recovered contraband and property to ₹3.77 lakh.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Shehzad alias Shaiju Mohammad Hanif Mansuri, a resident of Juhapura, was caught with 34.230 grams of Mephedrone—a synthetic stimulant regulated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to police officials, Shehzad was apprehended on the spot, while another accused, Rahil, a resident of Relief Road, managed to escape. A manhunt has been launched to trace and apprehend him. Right now case has been lodged against both the accused under sections of the NDPS Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Shehzad has a prior criminal record. He was previously booked under the NDPS Act in Bhuj ‘A’ Division Police Station, involving similar charges under the Act.

Mephedrone (34.230 grams) worth ₹3,42,300
Mobile phone worth ₹5,000
Two-wheeler vehicle worth ₹30,000
Total value of seized items: ₹3,77,300
Police said the accused has been handed over to the concerned police station for further investigation and legal proceedings. Efforts are underway to track down the absconding co-accused Rahil and probe the possible network behind the narcotics trafficking.
Authorities suspect links to a larger supply chain and are examining call records and financial transactions of the accused.
