In a plot straight out of a thriller flick, a man cooked up a false narrative about a shoot-out on his wife to trick the authorities.

Marking one month of their marriage on Nov 26, Jaysinh Sikligar and his wife Komal, were on the Pratapnagar bridge in Vadodara. Suddenly, according to Jaysinh, an unknown person shot his wife in the head. Following which, Komal was immediately rushed to a private hospital.

Initially, Sikligar established before the Makarpura police that his wife was shot by an unknown person near Pratapnagar bridge.

However, a deeper investigation by the police revealed that Komal was allegedly shot in their bedroom by Sikligar himself. The story begins when Sikligar allegedly shot his wife in the head while celebrating a month of marriage on the night of Nov 26.

Fearing his detention regarding the illegal gun and alleged accidental shooting, Sikligar made up a story before the police.

During the investigation, the officials obtained reports of the case from the doctor who treated Komal, which revealed that the bullet was fired from point-blank range (a gun that is fired from extremely close to the target or when almost touching it).

On Nov 28, Makarpura police inspector JN Parmar arrested Sikligar.

Currently, he has not been framed with any criminal charges. A statement from Komal is also awaited, as she is unconscious at the moment.

Police said that if Sikligar wanted to kill his wife, he wouldn’t have taken her to so many hospitals for her treatment. The gun also had three more cartridges inside and if his intent was to kill her, he could have. They also reveal that they were not aware of any problems between the couple.

As per reports, the in-laws of Komal are absconding and said to be involved in cooking up the story to dodge the cops.

On Nov 28, the FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team was sent again to the site. Further investigation is underway.
