Man caught for indecent act on Vastrapur–GMDC Road during police patrol drive

A 28-year-old man was detained by the Mahila Police Station (West) on Wednesday night after he was allegedly found exposing himself and urinating in full public view on the busy GMDC–Vastrapur Road. Police said the accused was caught during a special patrol drive ordered by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Women’s Cell.
As per the FIR, the incident took place around 7.40 pm on November 19, when a team were patrolling the area as part of the ongoing citywide drive against offences affecting women’s safety and public decency.
The patrol team noticed a man standing on the roadside near GMDC Road, allegedly exposing himself “without shame” in a public space frequented by commuters. The FIR states that the accused was also seen urinating on the roadside “in full view of people passing by”.
The police detained the man, later identified as Deepakkumar Dineshbhai Chauhan, a driver by profession. Chauhan currently resides at Vastrapur, and originally hails from Krushnnagar, Idar (Sabarkantha district).
Police said Chauhan was immediately arrested for committing an act of public indecency and violating public norms. “Such behaviour in a public place is a punishable offence. A case has been registered under Sections of the Gujarat Police Act,” an officer said.
Further investigation is on.
