Man brutally assaulted with axe, iron pipe near Bapunagar tea stall, three booked

A 22-year-old factory worker was allegedly attacked with an axe, iron pipe and wooden stick by three men in Bapunagar, Ahmedabad on Monday afternoon, leaving him with serious head and hand injuries. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital, police said.
According to the First Information Report registered with the Bapunagar police, the complainant, Md Sahil alias Aryan Sheikh, who works at a garment unit in the Vishwanathnagar area, stated that the incident occurred at around 12:30 pm near the Madina Tea Stall, close to his workplace.
Sahil alleged that the three accused — identified as Ayan alias Maya, Faizan alias Bhim Pathan, and Avesh Mirza, all residents of the Bapunagar area — arrived at the tea stall armed with weapons and began hurling abuses at him. The accused are known locally for alleged acts of intimidation, and the victim claimed that prior opposition to their behaviour had led to animosity.
When the tea stall owner, Wasimbhai Pathan, attempted to intervene and defuse the situation, he too was allegedly assaulted by the group. Amid the chaos, Sahil managed to flee towards the nearby Ajit Mill compound. However, the accused reportedly chased him down and intercepted him.
The accused attacked him with an axe, iron pipe and wooden stick. He sustained injuries on the back of my head, behind my left ear, and on my left hand while trying to defend himself.
Police said the assault turned particularly violent when Sahil fell to the ground after suffering heavy bleeding from head injuries. The accused allegedly continued to strike him on his body and limbs before fleeing the scene. While leaving, one of the accused is said to have issued a death threat, warning the victim against filing a police complaint.
Following the incident, bystanders alerted emergency services, and Sahil was rushed to the Civil Hospital in a 108 ambulance along with a relative. Doctors have confirmed that he sustained deep cuts on his head and left hand, requiring stitches, though he remained conscious.
Based on the complaint, Bapunagar police have registered a case under relevant sections pertaining to attempt to murder, causing grievous hurt, criminal intimidation, and unlawful assembly.
Officials said statements of witnesses, including the tea stall owner and others present at the scene, are being recorded. Efforts are under way to trace and apprehend the accused.
