Ahmedabad Police on Friday registered a case against a 37-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a woman and her nephew with bricks following a dispute over an electricity meter outside a residence, near Girdharnagar Bridge.
Girishbhai Pochabhai Solanki (70), resident of Girdharnagar area, reported that the incident occurred around 4 pm on November 27, when he and his wife were at home.
Solanki stated that he stepped out after hearing the sound of something breaking and found Hirenbhai Parmar, who lives in the same locality, allegedly smashing the electricity meter installed outside his house. When Solanki questioned him, an argument ensued.
During the confrontation, Solanki’s wife, Nandaben, intervened, after which the accused allegedly picked up a brick lying on the roadside and struck her on the head and stomach, causing multiple injuries. At that moment, Solanki’s nephew, Jitendrabhai Solanki, arrived at the scene. The accused reportedly hurled more pieces of brick, one of which struck Jitendra’s right wrist, leaving him injured.
Neighbours rushed to help, and Nandaben was shifted to Civil Hospital in an 108 ambulance, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Police said the incident was triggered by a quarrel over the breaking of the electricity meter. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against Hirenbhai under relevant sections for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation and a search for the accused is going on.
