A dispute over a delayed food order at a fast-food outlet in Bapunagar during the Uttarayan festival escalated into a violent assault, leaving a 33-year-old man injured after he was allegedly struck on the head with a frying spoon. A case has been registered at the Bapunagar police station, and further investigation is underway.

According to police, the incident occurred on January 14, at around 5 pm at Bholenath Fast Food, located in Shreeji Shopping Centre opposite Bapunagar DMart. The complainant, Indersinh Ranawat (33), a hotel guest house employee and resident of Shaherkotda, had gone to the eatery to buy manchurian and vada pav while visiting his relatives to celebrate Uttarayan.

In his complaint, Indersinh stated that after placing the order, he waited for nearly 20 minutes but did not receive the food. When he reminded the person sitting at the counter, he was asked to wait for another 20 minutes. Even after the order was not served, following which he requested the staff to prepare the food quickly.

Police said this led to an argument, during which the man at the counter, later identified by staff as Santoshbhai, allegedly became aggressive. The complainant alleged that Santoshbhai abused him verbally, including using derogatory language against his family members, before picking up a frying spoon from the shop and striking him on his head. The blow caused bleeding.

Alarmed by the attack, Indersinh called his cousin Karan Singh Chauhan, who arrived at the spot. Police said the accused then began arguing with both of them. As Chauhan attempted to intervene and protect the complainant, a scuffle ensued, during which Indersinh was pushed and hit against a wall, aggravating his injuries.

The injured man was immediately taken to a private hospital in Shaherkotda, where he received stitches on the back of his head and was later discharged. He later approached the Bapunagar police station to lodge a formal complaint after his condition stabilised.

Police said a case has been registered against the accused Santoshbhai, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Officials added that efforts are on to trace and detain the accused, and further investigation is on.
