In a distressful case emerging from Patan’s Harij taluka, a Mamlatdar ended his life by jumping from the taluka panchayat office on Feb 11.
Although the reason behind the officer’s suicide is yet to be known, several speculations are being made about his untimely death.
A meeting was organised at the taluka office regarding the 51st ‘Shaktipeeth parikrama mahotsav,’ set to commence in Ambaji. It was to be chaired by the taluka Mamlatdar VO Patel at 3 p.m. on Feb 11.
Patel had arrived at the office in the morning, hours before the meeting, and went straight to his chamber.
After 30 minutes, other employees at the office overheard a thud from the ground, and it was found that Patel had ended his life by jumping from the second floor of the building.
Top officials gathered after this incident, and the local police were informed. A complaint has been registered and a probe has been launched in the matter.
