Major reshuffle in Ahmedabad Police: 13 PIs transferred internally, 54 posted from outside

The long-awaited reshuffle of Police Inspectors (PIs) in Ahmedabad city has finally been carried out. A total of 67 PIs have been transferred and posted, including 13 internal transfers within the city and 54 officers posted from outside.
One of the most notable aspects of this transfer process is the firm stance taken by the Commissioner’s office. In the past, transfers were often influenced by middlemen and powerful political recommendations. However, this time, the Commissioner’s office clearly refused any such recommendations. No informal arrangements or influence worked in this round of postings.
This time, specific criteria were set for posting Police Inspectors. The authorities evaluated:
Past performance of officers
Awards received
Conduct during service
Confidential reports
Only after reviewing these factors were postings assigned in a fair and unbiased manner.
Side postings for controversial officers
Officers who were previously involved in controversies or had poor performance records were given side postings such as in the control room or traffic department instead of key police stations.
Important police stations like Narol, Naroda, Vatva, Bodakdev, and Navrangpura, which were earlier run by in-charge PIs, have now been assigned permanent postings.
Earlier, it was common for middlemen to place their preferred officers at specific stations, forcing them to act according to their interests. This practice weakened police morale. However, with merit-based postings now in place, there is a sense of satisfaction and positivity among honest officers.
