Major drug haul at Ahmedabad airport, passenger held with over 1 kg hydroponic Cannabis

In a significant crackdown on drug smuggling, customs officials at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport have seized a large quantity of high-value hydroponic cannabis from a passenger arriving from Bangkok.
The incident took place on the night of April 4, when a flight operated by VietJet Air from Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport landed in Ahmedabad. During routine hand baggage screening, customs officials grew suspicious of an Indian passenger and conducted a detailed inspection of his luggage.
Upon checking, officials discovered four vacuum-sealed plastic packets concealed inside the bag. The packets contained a green substance which, upon testing, was confirmed to be hydroponic cannabis weighing 1.107 kilograms.
Customs authorities have seized the entire consignment and arrested the passenger under relevant provisions of law. Preliminary investigation suggests the drugs were being smuggled into India via air route, indicating a possible international supply chain.
Officials are now probing the intended recipients of the consignment and trying to identify the network behind the smuggling attempt. Further investigation is
underway.
