LRD applicants demand 10-mark grace for ‘out of syllabus’ questions in GPRB exam

Thousands of applicants have demanded 10 marks grace for the out of syllabus grammar questions asked in the Gujarat Police Recruitment Board (GPRB) exam for the post of Lok Rakshak Dal (LRD).
GPRB had announced 12,000 new posts for LRD constables. The board clearly mentioned in the syllabus that ‘no grammar questions will be asked’ in the 20-mark Gujarati subject section. However, some questions in the Gujarati section included 10-mark grammar questions.
Out of those who cleared the physical test, 2.37 lakh candidates appeared for the written exam. According to the declared syllabus for the 80-mark written exam:
- 30 marks were for data analysis
- 30 marks for quantitative aptitude
- 20 marks for Gujarati (specifically for descriptive writing)
However, as there was there was no clarity regarding the Gujarati section, candidates had earlier met the then board chairman, Hasmukh Patel. At that time, he had stated on his YouTube channel that no grammar questions would be asked in the Gujarati section of the exam.
Taking the issue seriously, candidates approached the Director General of Police Vikas Sahay, who directed them to meet the police recruitment board chairperson Dr Nirja Gotru.
The candidates requested her to provide a 10-mark grace for the out of syllabus grammar questions.
Gotru assured them that the matter would be placed before the committee for a decision. However, since no decision has been made yet, candidates’ concerns continue to grow.
