LPG cylinder blast at Bharat Gas agency near Gita Mandir injures two, Fire brought under control

An LPG cylinder explosion at a Bharat Gas agency opposite Arogya Bhavan in Ahmedabad's Gita Mandir area on Friday evening left two persons injured and triggered panic in the busy locality. Prompt action by the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services ensured that the blaze was brought under control before it could spread further.
According to officials, the Fire Control Room received an emergency call at 4.41 pm, following which multiple fire-fighting teams were rushed to the scene. Fire personnel immediately began operations to contain the flames and secure the premises.
The two injured persons were shifted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. Officials said both sustained injuries in the incident, while no fatalities were reported.
Following the explosion, Ahmedabad Mayor Hitesh Barot and Standing Committee Chairman Kamlesh Patel visited the site to assess the situation and review the emergency response.
Given the seriousness of the incident, the fire brigade deployed two water bowsers, one mini fire-fighter and two ambulances. Senior officers, including the Chief Fire Officer (CFO), Additional Chief Fire Officer, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Divisional Officer, Station Officer, and teams of firefighters supervised the rescue and fire-control operations.
Fire officials said the blaze has been brought under control. As a precautionary measure, efforts are underway to safely remove the remaining LPG cylinders from the agency to eliminate the risk of further explosions.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the cylinder blast. Further details are awaited.
