Love affair suspicion sparks violence: Man kidnapped, cops attacked in Amreli
A shocking incident was reported from Khera village in Rajula taluka of Gujarat’s Amreli district, where a young man's father was allegedly kidnapped, tied to a tree, and brutally beaten by a group of villagers over suspicion of a love affair. A police team that arrived to rescue the victim was also attacked with stones and wooden sticks, leaving three policemen seriously injured.
Sources say, the dispute began when a family in Khera village suspected that the son of Devashi Gujriya was involved in a love affair with a girl from their family. They believed that the young man had helped the girl leave the village or had taken her away. The suspicion created tension between the two families and eventually led to violence.
Police said that some people allegedly kidnapped Devashi Gujriya from Hindorana village. After taking him to the outskirts of Khera village, the accused tied him to a tree with ropes. A large group of people, including men and women, reportedly gathered at the spot and assaulted him.
The victim was beaten for a long time before police received information about the incident. Acting quickly, the police rushed to the village to rescue the man.
While the police were trying to manage the crowd and explain the legal consequences of their actions, the mob allegedly turned violent. The angry group started pelting stones at the police team and attacked them with wooden sticks.
In the attack, PSI K D Hadiya and two other police personnel suffered injuries. The injured officers were immediately shifted to Rajula Hospital.
