Lost pet dog reunited with owner by Khadia police

The Khadia police in Ahmedabad traced the owner of a lost Shih Tzu dog and reunited the animal with its family within hours on Friday, officials said.
The pet was found around 2 pm on January 23 in the Khadia Police Station area. After securing the animal, the police initiated efforts to identify and locate its rightful owner.
Through local inquiries and verification, the police were able to trace the dog’s original owner and formally handed over the pet later that same day.
The incident occurred when patrol officers noticed several dogs barking continuously at a particular spot. Upon checking, they found a frightened dog hiding nearby. The animal was safely rescued and brought to the Khadia Police Station.
Police Inspector Sanjay Bhatia said that the dog was identified as “Jerry,” also known as “Guddu,” a three-year-old Shih Tzu. To trace the owner, the police shared details and photographs of Jerry on social media, including Instagram.
Within four hours of the post going live, the dog’s owners contacted the police and arrived at the station to take Jerry home. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the owners had stepped out for a marriage function, during which their two pet dogs—a Golden Retriever and a Shih Tzu—managed to slip out of the house. The larger dog found its way back home, while the smaller Shih Tzu went missing.
