Locals move court over stray dog nuisance in Ahmedabad’s Vastrapur

A controversy over stray dog nuisance in the Satellite Centre society located in the Vastrapur area of Ahmedabad has now reached the Ahmedabad Rural Court. The case has been filed by affected residents who claim they have suffered injuries and mental distress due to repeated dog bite incidents within the society's premises.
According to the complaint, local residents, including women and children, have been bitten by dogs on multiple occasions, creating an atmosphere of fear among the people living in the society. The affected members stated that despite submitting written representation to the society’s office bearers and the committee members, no concrete action has been taken to control the increasing nuisance of dogs.
The locals have now filed a suit in the Ahmedabad Rural Court seeking compensation for damages and mental anguish caused by the situation. The plaintiffs have also requested the court to prevent the concerned committee members from selling, arranging the sale, or transferring their flats during the ongoing dispute.
During the hearing, the court took serious note of allegations that certain committee members attempted to mislead the court by creating false records to support their defence. As a result, the court issued a show-cause notice to more than 14 committee members regarding alleged false testimony and forgery.
Earlier, notices were also issued to the Ahmedabad District Collector and the Housing Registrar in connection with the case, but they have not appeared before the court so far. The court has now sought explanations from the concerned parties and scheduled the next hearing of the matter for March 25.
