Railway Police in Himmatnagar seized Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth ₹61,200 from two unattended trolley bags found inside the Udaipur–Asarwa Intercity train on Thursday evening. Gujarat, being a prohibition state, police registered a case under the Prohibition Act after the recovery.

According to the FIR filed by ASI Vikas Kumar Chaudhary of the Himmatnagar Railway Outpost, the incident took place around 7.40 pm on September 4, when police personnel were inspecting the train at Himmatnagar Railway Station.

The officers noticed two heavy trolley bags in the rear general coach, but no passenger came forward to claim ownership despite repeated inquiries. The bags were then removed and brought to the railway police post. The bags were opened, revealing large quantities of sealed liquor bottles marked ‘For Sale in Rajasthan Only’.

In total, 192 bottles containing 34.560 litres of liquor were recovered, with an estimated value of ₹61,200. Some clothes and personal items were also found inside the trolley bags.

Police sealed the liquor after taking one sample from each brand for forensic analysis. The FIR notes that the consignment was likely being smuggled into Gujarat for resale, with the unknown carrier abandoning the bags out of fear of being caught.

Confirming the seizure, a senior police officer said: “No one has so far claimed ownership of the trolley bags. The consignment was clearly meant for illegal sale inside Gujarat. Investigation is underway to trace the source and identify those involved.”
