The Vivekanandanagar police on Friday recovered Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth over ₹37.41 lakh from a farmhouse near Vadodara village in Sanand. Police said the consignment was being offloaded from a container and repackaged when the raid was conducted.

Acting on instructions issued by senior officers teams had intensified patrolling, vehicle checks and intelligence-gathering across the Sanand division ahead of the year-end.

During one such operation, officials received information that large quantities of foreign liquor were being stored and “cut” at a farmhouse owned by Firozkhan Mahmudkhan Bailiff, opposite an ONGC well in Vadodara village. The property, locally known as Gharada Ghar, was reportedly being used to receive liquor consignments brought in from outside Gujarat.

When the police team reached the spot, they found a closed-body container and a white Tata Zest parked inside the premises. A motorcycle and several boxes used to conceal liquor bottles were also recovered.

A detailed search revealed 7,108 bottles of premium liquor brands.

The total value of the liquor alone was estimated at ₹37,41 lakh

Police also seized 1,144 empty Bournvita boxes used for concealment, worth ₹78,12 lakh along with vehicles collectively valued at ₹17.15 lakh taking the total seizure to ₹1.32 Crore

A case has been registered under Sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act. Police said efforts are on to trace all those involved in the supply chain.

The primary accused, Firozkhan Mahmudkhan Bailiff, who allegedly organised the procurement and distribution of liquor, is absconding.

Police are also searching for:

1. The driver of the seized container

2. The driver of the Tata Zest car

3. Other suspects identified during investigation

Further investigation is under way to determine the source of the consignment, the network involved in transporting alcohol into Gujarat, and possible links to other smuggling routes.
