Liquor worth ₹2.61 lakh seized in Sola, Rajasthan man held

Ahmedabad Police on Sunday seized a consignment of liquor worth ₹2.61 lakh from the Sola High Court Police Station area, arresting a man from Rajasthan in connection with the case, officials said.

The seizure was made from an open plot adjacent to Chanakyapuri’s Mata Parvati School, where the police intercepted a Mahindra Bolero pick-up vehicle. During a search, officers found that the vehicle had been modified with a concealed compartment in its trolley to transport liquor illegally.

A total of 225 bottles of liquor, valued at ₹2.61 lakh, were recovered from the hidden cavity. The accused has been identified as Narsinghram Devasai, a native of Rajasthan.

Police said the liquor was being transported in violation of the state’s prohibition law. The Mahindra Bolero pick-up, a mobile phone and other items were also seized, taking the total value of the muddamal recovered to ₹5.15 lakh.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the liquor and the network involved in its transportation, police added.
