Liquor worth ₹11 lakh seized in Gujarat SMC raid in Nadiad, 6 held

In a crackdown on illicit liquor activities, the Gujarat State Monitoring Cell (SMC) Prohibition Squad conducted raids across multiple locations in Nadiad town, seizing Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth ₹10.92 lakh and arresting six individuals. The total value of seized items, including liquor, vehicles, mobile phones, and cash, amounts to ₹18.63 lakh.

Acting on a tip-off, the raiding teams targeted four locations:

  • Farmlands owned by Jagdishbhai Shah at Sani Talavadi
  • A tin shed belonging to Jignesh Talpada at Sani Talavadi
  • Premises near Mahesh Gordhanbhai’s house at Sani Talavadi
  • Farmland of Ramabhai Ravi Parmar at Sevaliya, Nadiad.

During the raids, police seized 3,329 IMFL bottles valued at ₹10.92 lakh, three vehicles estimated at ₹7.40 lakh, five mobile phones worth ₹25,000, and cash amounting to ₹5,920.

Six accused were apprehended and handed over to the Nadiad Town Police Station. They have been identified as:

  1. Naresh Kabhaibhai Talpada (26), of Chaklasi Bhagol, Nadiad,
  2. Hiteshbhai Satishbhai Parmar (24), of Junamakhanpura, Nadiad,
  3. Jaydipsinh alias Gabbar Kantibhai Sodha (41), of Paldi, Nadiad,
  4. Gopal alias Nanko Ambalal Talpada (34), of Malharpura, Nadiad,
  5. Munno Ibrahim Vora (53), of Anand,
  6. Maheshbhai Gordhanbhai Talpada (50), of Sani Talavadi, Nadiad

Additionally, four accused, including Jignesh alias Jigo Laxmanbhai Talpada and three of his associates, are still at large. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend them. The raids were conducted under the provisions of the Gujarat Prohibition Act Sections and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
