Liquor smugglers toss bags off Aravalli Express near Kalupur, 61 bottles seized

The Ahmedabad Railway Police have seized 61 bottles of foreign liquor worth ₹7,015 from two unclaimed bags thrown off the Aravalli Express on Thursday night.
As per the complaint filed by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mansingh Jatt of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), the seizure was made during a joint patrol with the Ahmedabad Railway Police Surveillance Squad between 6 pm on September 4 and 1 am on September 5.
Around 9.40 pm, while patrolling near the Kalupur Bridge, close to Ahmedabad railway station, police personnel noticed two plastic bags being thrown from train number 14701, the Aravalli Express, travelling from Ganganagar to Bandra Terminus. No claimant for the bags was found in the vicinity.
The bags were brought to the Ahmedabad Railway Police Station, where they were opened, police found sealed bottles of whisky bearing the label ‘For Sale in Rajasthan State Only’.
One bag contained 29 bottles, while the other had 32 bottles, totalling 61 bottles measuring 10.98 litres of liquor. The estimated value of the seized consignment was put at ₹7,015. Police said one bottle was taken as a sample for forensic analysis, while the remaining bottles were sealed and kept in safe custody.
Confirming the seizure, a senior Railway Police officer said: “The liquor was being transported illegally into Gujarat. Further investigation is underway to trace those responsible.”
