With frequent cases of liquor, drugs, weapons, and other rackets active in the city, Ahmedabad is once again embroiled in turmoil, this time over shots being fired by a drunk few.
Located just a few metres away from the Bopal police station, a group of inebriated men were caught when they fired blanks on the night of Dec 26.
The cops immediately rushed to the spot as soon as they heard the shots being fired with a starter gun. On reaching the spot, they found the men to be in a highly intoxicated state.
On Dec 26, the Bopal police station arrested six men from the property dealer’s office at Celebration City Centre in Bopal and booked them for possession of illegal weapons and liquor.
The arrests came after the firing of seven shots that created a ruckus in the complex in Bopal. The on-duty police staff rushed to the office premises and busted the liquor party.
However, on seeing the police, two of the accused jumped from the building, yet ended up being arrested, with one of them in possession of the starter gun, as per reports.
Who are the accused?
Police arrested three residents of Kutch, including the owner of the property trading office, Ruturajsinh Jadeja from Mandvi, his friends Fatuba Jadeja and Mahavirsinh Jadeja from Bhachau, and Mahendra Thakor, Suraj Bharwad, and Kedar Patva from Ghatlodia.
During the party, Thakor reportedly opened fire over a brawl. Searching his office, police recovered another pistol, 25 tins of beer, and other liquor bottles.
The cops also seized ₹1.25 lakh cash, two high-end cars, and nine mobile phones, summing up to a total of ₹27 lakh.
