More than 25 fishermen from Maroli village in Umargam taluka of Gujarat’s Valsad district are  reportedly stranded in Iran after travelling there for fishing work. Their families have expressed deep concerns as they have been unable to contact them for the past five to six days.

According to local sources, the fishermen had gone to Kish Island in Iran for fishing activities. However, the ongoing tensions in the Gulf region, linked to the conflict involving Israel, the United States, and Iran, have created a war-like situation in several countries in the area. Due to this tense environment, communication with the fishermen has been disrupted, leaving their families anxious about their safety.

Relatives living in Maroli village said they have not received any updates or phone calls from the fishermen in nearly a week. The uncertainty has caused distress among family members, especially the women in the village, who said their worries have grown due to the ongoing conflict in the region.

The fishermen are believed to be stranded on Kish Island and may be facing difficulties because of the unstable situation. With no clear information about their condition, the families have appealed to the government to take immediate steps to ensure their safe return to India.

Village leaders and community members have also started making efforts to contact authorities and raise the issue with the concerned departments. They have requested government assistance to bring the stranded fishermen back safely.
