Labourer suffers burns after being attacked with hot oil near Shah Alam, one booked

A 36-year-old labourer from Isanpur suffered burn injuries after a man allegedly poured a pan of hot oil on him during an argument near Shah Alam in Ahmedabad on Saturday afternoon.
According to the FIR registered at the Isanpur Police Station, the victim, Altaf Basirbhai Sheikh, a resident of Chandola Lake area near Shah Alam, was admitted to the burns ward of L G Hospital, where he gave his statement.
Sheikh stated that he has known the accused, Imran Iqbalbhai Sheikh, a resident of Shah Alam, for nearly ten years. Earlier that morning, Sheikh’s wife, Afsana, had reportedly gone to buy malpua from a roadside stall near Shah Alam Silver Party Plot, where she had a verbal exchange with Imran after he allegedly spoke rudely to the vendor.
Later in the afternoon, around 2 pm, Altaf and Afsana went to meet Imran near a dal vada stall close to Noorani Hotel, next to Shah Alam Shalimar Talkies, to clarify the issue. According to the complaint, when Altaf tried to reason with Imran, the latter began hurling abuses and got into an argument.
In a sudden act of rage, Imran allegedly picked up a pan filled with boiling oil from the dal vada lorry and poured it on Altaf. The victim sustained burns on his left leg, lower leg, chest, and back of his left hand. The accused then allegedly kicked Altaf before fleeing the scene.
Hearing her husband’s screams, Afsana rushed him to L G Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. Police said Sheikh is currently undergoing treatment and is reported to be conscious and stable.
Based on his statement, the Isanpur police have registered a case against Imran Iqbalbhai Sheikh under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and further investigation is underway.
