Labourer held with 6.6 kg of ganja worth ₹1.6 lakh in Narol

The Narol police on Saturday arrested a 39-year-old labourer for allegedly possessing over 6.6 kilograms of ganja (cannabis) worth ₹1.6 lakh during patroling.

Senior officers of Sector-2 and Zone-6, a special NDPS team of Narol police conducted a patrol in the area. During the operation, one of the constables received a tip-off about an individual carrying a consignment of ganja.

Following the information, the team, under the direct supervision of Police Inspector P C Desai intercepted the suspect near Narol. A search led to the recovery of 6 kg and 62 grams of ganja, along with a mobile phone, Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID card, and an Activa scooter, collectively valued at ₹1.60 lakh.

The accused has been identified as Swarajya aka Suresh Hansraj Vishoi, a native of Kidiya village in Ganjam district, Odisha, currently residing at Vansana, and Narol, in Ahmedabad.

Police said the seized contraband was meant for distribution within the city. The accused has been booked under Sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to trace the source and supply network.
