Kutch jolted by earthquake in early morning hours

The land of Kutch was shaken once again by a powerful earthquake in the early hours of Friday. The tremor, measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale, struck at around 4:30 am, jolting people awake from deep sleep. Panic-stricken residents rushed out of their homes in fear. The epicentre of the earthquake was recorded near Rapar.

Strong tremor felt in the early morning

According to the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR), Gandhinagar, an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 was experienced in the Rapar region of Kutch at 4:30 am today. The epicentre was located about 22 kilometres west-southwest of Rapar, near Gedi village, at a shallow depth of just 9 kilometres. Due to its low depth, the tremors were felt more intensely in Rapar, Bhachau, Anjar and the surrounding rural areas.

No immediate reports of casualties or major damage were reported.
