Kheda BJP leader accuses police involvement in liquor smuggling in Kathlal

In Kathlal, Kheda, BJP leader and executive chairman of the Kathlal Municipality, Jignesh Bhavsar, openly accused the police of being involved in the illegal liquor trade.
He made these allegations by commenting on Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi’s Facebook page, claiming that a police officer from the Kathlal police department, D-staff constable Mulji Rabari, was accepting bribes to facilitate liquor sales.
Jignesh Bhavsar wrote on the minister’s Facebook page:
“In our Kathlal city, liquor and narcotic substances are being openly sold with the support of D-staff constable Muljibhai Rabari, who takes bribes to allow this illegal trade. This must be stopped immediately. I am the executive chairman of the BJP-run Kathlal Municipality. The youth of our city are being ruined because of this, and I humbly request that this officer be transferred.”
Following the controversy, Jignesh Bhavsar made another post, advising political aspirants to focus on their careers rather than following senior leaders blindly.
He stated: “Instead of running after senior leaders, focus on building your own career. Big leaders only use you for their own benefit by speaking sweet words to earn your loyalty. If you want to establish yourself in politics, you must create your own identity. The party and the public will only recognise you if you stand on your own. Being blindly loyal to leaders and following them like a servant will not help your political career. Have the courage to call out what is right and what is wrong.”
The accusations made by a BJP official have reignited discussions on the liquor trade issue in Kheda. This comes after a similar incident in Nadiad, where three people died after allegedly consuming country-made liquor.
At that time, the police had stated that the deceased had consumed “jeera soda” (cumin soda) instead of liquor, and no strict action was taken despite suspicions of alcohol consumption.
