Kankaria Lakefront sees record 3.74 lakh visitors in just 25 days

Kankaria Lakefront, widely regarded as one of the pride of Ahmedabad, has emerged as a major summer attraction, drawing massive local crowds and outstation tourists. With schools closed for summer vacation, the iconic lakeside destination has witnessed an unprecedented surge in visitors, thanks to its diverse attractions including Kids City, Balvatika, the Nocturnal Zoo, and the Butterfly Park.

According to official statistics for the 25-day period between April 27 and May 21, Kankaria registered a record 3,74,016 visitors at the lakefront. The popular Atal Express train ride delighted 54,119 passengers, while Kids City welcomed 2,637 young visitors. The overall footfall has nearly doubled compared to normal days, reflecting the spot’s growing popularity among families seeking recreational outings.

The administration is also benefitting financially from the tourist influx. Revenue collections during this period have crossed approximately Rs 50 lakh, boosting the coffers significantly.The well-maintained promenade, combined with evening lighting, musical fountains, and family-friendly entertainment zones, has made Kankaria a preferred destination for both Ahmedabad residents and tourists from other cities.

Authorities have ensured smooth operations with adequate security, cleanliness drives, and visitor facilities to handle the increased crowds.
