In Gujarat, as political parties gear up for the upcoming by-elections in the Kadi and Visavadar Assembly constituencies, after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Indian National Congress (INC) announced their candidates, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now officially declared its nominees.

BJP’s candidates:

Kadi constituency:

BJP has nominated Rajendra Daneshwar Chavda, a veteran party worker from Jotana in Mehsana district. He holds a BA degree and began his political journey in 1972 with the Jan Sangh. A member of BJP since December 6, 1980, Chavda also served as a Taluka Panchayat member in Mehsana from 1981 to 1986. Known for his grassroots connections and party loyalty, he is seen as a steady choice.

Visavadar constituency:

BJP has selected Kirit Balubhai Patel for Visavadar bypolls. The party is positioning him as a strong local face capable of maintaining its influence in the region amidst growing competition from other parties.

Congress candidate:

The Congress party announced its Kadi candidate on June 1, selecting former MLA Ramesh Chavda, who previously served from 2012 to 2017. He is known for defeating BJP’s prominent face Hitu Kanodiya during that tenure. Notably, Chavda is also the first choice of the party’s working president, Jignesh Mevani, which adds further political weight to his candidature. He is expected to file his nomination soon.

AAP’s candidates:

The Aam Aadmi Party, aiming to make a strong electoral impact in Gujarat, has declared:

Jagdish Chavda for Kadi

Gopal Italia for Visavadar

AAP’s Gujarat State President Isudan Gadhvi announced the names, asserting, “AAP will fight and win in both Kadi and Visavadar. The people will hear the sound of victory from AAP.”
