Kadi MLA complains about unabated liquor hotspots in his own assembly
Questions on the execution of the prohibition of alcohol are not new for Gujarat, but when a ruling party’s MLA complains to the police about the illicit activities prevalent in his assembly, the eyebrows are bound to raise.
MLA Karsan Solanki of Kadi in Mehsana district complained to the superintendent of police (SP) and police inspector (PI) of Nandasan police station over the unrestricted sale of alcohol in his region. Solanki also presented his case verbally to the Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
The MLA said that he would also write to the governor about the issue if need be.
Gambling dens, country-made and foreign liquor hotspots are bustling unabated in Kadi and surrounding areas. People have repeatedly demanded action against them at the highest level.
“Not only Nandasan but everywhere I go, the liquor business is prevalent. I have submitted to the PI and SP about the country breweries flourishing in the Kadi taluka and the assembly area. I have come to make a representation, asking for a closure of all those places and liquor businesses.” said Solanki.
MLA Karsan Solanki told the police, “During the election, people have presented this issue to me. My effort is to stop the alcohol nuisance.”
After Solanki’s complaint, the police have swung into action right away.
