The Gujarat government transferred K D Sagathiya, brother of suspended Rajkot town planning officer (TPO) Mansukh Sagathiya, from his post of Additional Chief Town Planner (ACTP) to Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB).

Notably, Mansukh Sagathiya is part of an ongoing investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) over disproportionate properties. 

After the Rajkot fire tragedy that claimed 27 innocent lives, Mansukh Sagathiya was suspended as the TPO.

The authorities are now investigating if Mansukh Sagathiya had any role in clearing his brother's files.

Brothers in crime?

The government is likely to issue a departmental inquiry against K D, and the ACB could investigate his properties, too, said the sources.

Rajkot BJP leader Bharat Kanabar had earlier accused K D Sagathiya of taking a bribe to clear Non Agricultural (NA) map of a land belonging to Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) of Amreli when Anandi Patel was Gujarat’s chief minister. Sources close to the development suggest that Sagathiya will be under investigation for this, too.
