Junagadh civic worker’s son, others accused of assaulting woman, her nephew

A woman and her nephew were assaulted in Junagadh by individuals including the son of a municipality member, over an old dispute.
As per police, Khatijaben Sandh (50), a resident of Raghuveer Society, had sent her nephew, Salim Sandh, to apply for a loan at the Jan Suvidha Kendra office near Khamdhrol crossing about a month and a half ago. There, he had an altercation with Savan, the son of a local municipal councilor. Khatijaben’s son, Wasim, had then intervened to pacify the situation.
On Friday, the municipal councilor’s driver, Anil, along with Nando and Jayesh, allegedly arrived at Khatijaben’s home armed with iron pipes and sticks. They allegedly assaulted Khatijaben and her daughter-in-law, also attacking a man from the housing society with a wooden stick.
Following the attack, Khatijaben and other locals went to the Taluka Police Station to file a complaint.
Later, after filing the complaint, Khatijaben’s nephew, Salim Sandh, was returning home from the police station when he stopped on Khamdhrol Road to buy soda.
Savan, along with Hitesh, Anil, and seven to eight unidentified individuals, allegedly arrived there in a car and motorcycles and attacked Salim with knives, iron pipes, and wooden sticks, injuring him.
After the assault, the nephew again registered the complaint against Savan Munna, Hitesh, Anil, and several unidentified assailants.
