Jewellery cash amounting to rs 15 lakh stolen from New Naroda house

In yet another house burglary reported in Ahmedabad, unidentified thieves allegedly broke into a residence in New Naroda and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth over ₹13.53 lakh and ₹2 lakh in cash in the early hours of Saturday.

Nikul Singh Deval who lives in Shridhar Society, New Naroda, stated in his complaint to Naroda police that he lives with his parents, brother, and sister-in-law. He runs a clothing shop on rent in Nikol and usually works from morning till late at night.

In his complaint, Nikul said that due to the ongoing festive season, he had been returning home late. On Saturday around midnight, he had locked the main door and left for his shop after ensuring his family members were asleep, his parents were resting upstairs, while his brother and sister-in-law were in the ground-floor room.

When he returned home around 4.15 am, he noticed the compound gate open. On entering the premises, he found the kitchen window’s wooden bar displaced and the back door grill open. When he looked inside, he saw that the cupboards and drawers were open, and the main door of the ground floor was locked from outside.

He immediately went upstairs to wake his parents, and together they opened the main door. Inside, they found the rooms ransacked, household items scattered, and the iron grill of the back kitchen door bent. His brother and sister-in-law were also awakened, and on checking the cupboards, they discovered that gold and silver ornaments along with cash were missing.

The stolen valuables include gold and silver ornaments worth 13.53 lakh and cash of ₹2 lakh.

In total, the stolen property is valued at approximately ₹15.53 lakh

Police said that unidentified thieves gained entry by bending the kitchen grill and breaking open the back door. The burglary is believed to have occurred between 6 pm and 4.15 am.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for housebreaking, theft, and trespass. Naroda police station have started an investigation in the matter, by examining CCTV footage from the locality and nearby junctions.

Officials said preliminary evidence suggests that the thieves were aware of the family’s routine and targeted the house when everyone was asleep. The police have also collected fingerprints and are verifying local suspects with prior records of similar burglaries.

Police said efforts are underway to trace the accused and recover the stolen valuables.
