Internal conflicts within the BJP seem to simmer again. Former cabinet minister Jawahar Chavda, who has been disgruntled for quite some time, held a private meeting with Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gohil.

There is strong speculation that Chavda might return to Congress in the coming days, which could heat up the political atmosphere in Gujarat.

A cold war between Chavda and Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya over the issue of toll tax has already created a buzz. Notably, during the Porbandar bye-election, Mandaviya took a jab at Chavda, saying that those who carry the party’s symbol should work for the party.

Meanwhile, Chavda has remarked that the BJP only shelters those who go against the party. He also claimed that action is not taken against those who have openly tried to defeat the party’s candidate in the election.

The matter has been brought to the attention of the state president C R Patil and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yet no action has been taken against those working against the party, he had said. Chavda has predicted that MLA Arvind Ladani might also face the same fate as him, as Ladani is targeted by the BJP’s inner circle.

According to sources, Chavda may return to Congress along with his supporters before the district and taluka panchayat elections.
