With several festivals between August 9 and 17 and a long weekend in the offing, fares for a one-way flight from Ahmedabad to Goa have skyrocketed to ₹21,000.
August, a month of festivals for Indians, bring many holidays, including Rakshabandhan (August 9), Independence Day (August 15, Friday), and August 16 is a holiday for Janmashtami this year.
With this extended break, a mini-vacation-like atmosphere is expected at travel destinations. Normally, the one-way airfare from Ahmedabad to Goa is around ₹4,000. However, due to the Janmashtami holiday, the one-way fare has shot up to as high as ₹21,000.
A few days before the Janmashtami festivities begin, enthusiasts from Gujarat typically flock to Goa. As the Janmashtami holidays approach, the airfare could rise even further, potentially reaching ₹30,000.
Travelling to Dubai is turning out to be cheaper than going to Goa, as per reports.
Notably, the Janmashtami festival (satam-atham) is often an excuse for people in Gujarat to gamble. Illegal gambling is rampant when the festival nears. Some gambling enthusiasts often travel to Goa to casinos during the holidays.
