The protests against the removal of idols by the Jain community concluded after the authorities reinstated the ancient idols in their previous positions. By the evening of June 18, the work of reinstating all 19 idols was completed.

The idols of Jain Tirthankar Neminathji that were embedded along the stairs of Pavagadh Hill were found removed on June 16, leading to agitation by the Jain community across the state.

Followed by the protests and series of meetings among authorities and Jain leaders, the district collector announced on June 18 that all 19 statues will be re-erected by the evening at the same place and that the government will also be sensitive to this issue. The police investigation is also underway regarding the case.

Dinesh Shah, the secretary of the Halol Jain Sangh, said, “The leaders of Jain Sangh were at Gandhinagar when the district administration informed through a call that the front door leading to the Pavagadh stairs, which was earlier closed, has now been opened. The Jain devotees will be able to worship. Our protests are conclude now.
