Isanpur temple theft cracked: Two held, silver ornaments, stolen bike worth ₹2 lakh recovered

In a significant breakthrough, Isanpur police have cracked an undetected case of temple theft and a related vehicle theft, arresting two individuals and recovering items worth ₹2.23 lakh, including silver artefacts and a stolen motorcycle.
The case pertains to a theft reported on July 6, 2025, between 9.30 pm and 5.30 am, when two unidentified individuals broke into the Varahi Mata temple near the Isanpur bus stand. The miscreants forcibly entered the temple’s sanctum and fled with silver ornaments weighing 2,372 grams, worth ₹1.77 lakh, along with a metal donation box valued at ₹2,000.
The Isanpur police used CCTV footage and human intelligence to trace and identify the suspects. The accused were arrested, and the stolen items, including the silver ornaments, the donation box, and the motorcycle used in the crime, were recovered.
The arrested accused have been identified as Suresh Rameshbhai Bhil (27), resident of Narol and native of Vadgam, Rajasthan and Sumit Jitubhai Bhil (19), resident of the same area in Narol, Ahmedabad.
Police have recovered silver oil pans, lamps, padukas, an aarti plate, a water jar, and an umbrella – all of approximately 85% purity, totalling 2,372 grams and valued around ₹1.77 lakh, a steel donation box worth ₹2,000 and a hero splendor motorcycle used in the theft (lacking number plates), estimated at ₹40,000. A total of ₹2,23 lakh worth of valuables were recovered in total.
Main accused Suresh Bhil has a lengthy criminal history, with seven past cases registered across various police stations, including Kagadapith, Danilimda, Maninagar, and Anandnagar.
Further investigation is underway to determine if the duo is connected to other similar offences in the city.
