IPS officer’s wife commits suicide at residence in Thaltej

In an unexpected turn of events, the wife of a Gujarat cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer committed suicide at their residence in Ahmedabad on the night of Nov 30.

52-year-old Saluben Susara, wife of Rajan Susara, the superintendent of police of the Marine Task Force, Surat, allegedly hanged herself at their residence, Shangri-La bungalows, near Zydus Hospital Road, Thaltej.

Saluben returned on the night of Nov 30 after attending a function in Surat. Rajan’s nephew, Sumit Gamara, dropped Saluben off at her residence on the same night.

On the morning of Dec 1, Rajan woke up to find that his wife had hanged herself to death. Later, Gamara reached their residence and called the police control room. Bodakdev police reached the scene and investigated the place. No suicide note was found.

Currently, the reason for her death remains a mystery. The police are investigating the call records and statements of relatives.

The couple has three children: two 15-year-old twins and a daughter who is abroad for further studies.
