IPL matches boost Ahmedabad metro: Over ₹2 cr revenue from nine match days

The Indian Premier League (IPL) matches played in Ahmedabad have benefited the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) as during the nine matches hosted in Ahmedabad, over ₹2 crore were generated from ticket sales. More than 15 lakh people travelled by metro on the match days.

On the day of the final, the metro saw a record-breaking revenue of ₹32.12 lakh in a single day. To avoid getting stuck in traffic and to save time, most people chose to travel to the stadium via metro. On match days, the metro schedule was also adjusted to ensure passenger convenience.
Altogether, over 15 lakh passengers traveled by metro during these 9 match days, generating over ₹2 crore in revenue from ticket sales for the GMRC.
