India’s largest ‘Biotech and Genetics Conference’ to be held in Ahmedabad in January

India’s largest Biotechnology and Human Genetics Conference “Indian Society of Human Genetics” is scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad from Jan 18-24.

Doctors and scientists from all over the world will participate in this six-day conference, organised by the founder of the Ahmedabad-based Institute of Human Genetics, with Gujarat Biotech Research Centre.

The international faculties at the event will be coming from countries like France, the UK, the USA, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, and Denmark.

The world-renowned attendees

Many faculty members will be from the world-renowned Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, including Ricky Magner, Megan Shand, and Michael Gatzen, known for their work and research in genetics and the treatment of genetic diseases.

Dr Asima Mukhopadhyay, who is known for her work with PARP inhibitors for the treatment of cancer; Sir John Burn, who established the cancer-preventing role of aspirin in people with hereditary colon cancer (Lynch syndrome); Matthias Kloor, a lead researcher for cancer-prevention vaccines; and Stylianos Antonarakis, who made important discoveries in Down syndrome; will be present at the conference.

Apart from this, editors of peer-reviewed journals like the Lancet will guide students on how to write research papers. Professor Pramod Mistry from Yale University, Prof Atul Mehta, a professor of hematology; and Dr Priya Kishnani, known for her work in clinical and biochemical genetics; will be present at the conference.
