India’s first public alkaline water ATM project launched in Godhra

India’s first public alkaline water ATM project was inaugurated in Godhra with the objective of providing clean, safe and affordable drinking water to city residents and commuters. The initiative has been launched by the Godhra Municipality.
The project was formally inaugurated at Atal Udyan by the local MLA. Under the scheme, citizens can purchase 500 ml of alkaline drinking water for just ₹1, making it one of the most affordable public drinking water initiatives in the country.
As part of the project, a total of six modern alkaline water ATMs have been installed at various locations across Godhra city to ensure easy access to purified and health-friendly drinking water.
In addition, the municipality has introduced a door-to-door alkaline water supply service through two special vehicles. Under this service, 20 litres of alkaline water will be delivered to households for ₹25, further enhancing accessibility for residents.
Municipal officials said the project aims to promote public health while ensuring the availability of clean drinking water at minimal cost, and is expected to benefit a large section of the population in Godhra.
