In a swift rescue operation, a 50-year-old injured fisherman was saved by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Jan 27.

The fisherman Manu Makwana went fishing in Dwarka’s ocean on a boat named ‘Sidheshwari’.

Makwana injured his right leg, which was almost severed due to being entangled with a steel wire of the fishing net he was trying to set up.

ICG was called to save Makwana, as he was suffering unbearable pain mid-ocean.

The ICG’s advanced light helicopter (ALH) evacuated the critically injured crew from the Sideshwari boat, which was 40 km at sea away from Dwarka.

Makwana was taken to ICG headquarters 15 (HQ 15) in Okha post-stabilisation and was later shifted to Dwarka Civil Hospital.

The Civil Hospital referred him to Guru Govind Singh Government Hospital (GG Hospital) in Jamnagar for further treatment.

The ICG has saved fishermen on the Okha coast now and then. As per media reports, the ICG rescued five fishermen from a stranded boat at sea near Dwarka last year.
