Illegal drugs worth ₹40 lakh seized in Ahmedabad during FDCA drive
The illegal Drug trade is growing in Gujarat, and another major case has come in Ahmedabad. The Gujarat Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) has seized illegal medicines worth more than ₹40 lakh during a raid.
The FDCA has been conducting random raids across the state to stop the sale of counterfeit and illegal medications. During one such inspection, officials raided a shop located on the first floor of E-24, Manhar Nagar Shopping Centre in Ahmedabad. A large stock of allopathic medicines was found stored there without a valid license.
According to the FDCA Commissioner, strict action is being taken against people who sell medicines illegally or violate drug laws. During the investigation, it was found that the medicines belonged to Dharmeshbhai Jayantilal Sathwara.
Although Sathwara held a valid drug license under the name Medicaselis Health Care at Hilltown Landmark, Nikol, he had shifted the storage location without informing the FDCA. The medicines were stored at the Manhar Nagar location without permission or a valid license, which is a violation of the law.
Officials collected six medicine samples from the seized stock and sent them to a laboratory for testing. The remaining medicines, worth around ₹40 lakh, have been seized. Further legal action will be taken after the lab reports are received.
