House burgled in Ahmedabad’s Sarangpur area, jewellery, cash totalling ₹2.33 lakh stolen

An unidentified thief decamped with gold and silver ornaments along with cash worth ₹2.33 lakh after breaking into a house in the Sarangpur area of Ahmedabad in the early hours of Monday, police said.
According to Khadia police, the incident occurred between 5 am and 8.30 am on April 13, when Nathubhai Sukhabhai Patel (43), was away at work.
Patel, who resides at Taliyani Pol, stated in his complaint that he had locked the iron shutter of his house before leaving for his routine morning shift at a tea stall near Sarangpur Darwaza. Around 8.30 am, he was alerted by a local shop owner that the shutter lock of his house had been broken.
On returning home, Patel found the shutter partially open. Upon entering the premises on the first floor, he discovered that the safe had been forced open and its contents ransacked. A steel box containing valuables was missing.
The stolen items included a gold earring and six pairs of small gold earrings weighing approximately one tola, estimated at ₹1.10 lakh. In addition, silver ornaments comprising three pairs of bangles, bracelets, a waist belt and necklaces weighing around one kilogram, valued at ₹1.20 lakh, were also stolen. The accused also took away ₹3,000 in cash, taking the total value of stolen property to ₹2.33 lakh.
Police said the modus operandi suggests that the accused broke open the iron shutter, entered the house via the staircase, and targeted the safe. No suspects have been identified so far.
An offence has been registered against an unknown person under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation has been initiated.
Police are examining nearby CCTV footage and gathering forensic evidence to trace the accused.
