The Gujarat government had promised subsidies and loans to encourage hotels, resorts, water parks and amusement parks in Gujarat in an attempt to boost tourism in the state. However, the promises are becoming nightmares for the investors as the state has halted the subsidies.

The state government implemented the tourism policy of 2015-2020 to boost tourism in Gujarat. The tourism projects were started by assuring subsidies and other benefits and incentives. Under this tourism policy, hotels, resorts, water parks, and amusement parks were started in Gujarat.

Currently, the situation is such that the financial condition of all these projects has deteriorated due to recession, GST, and other issues. Moreover, the operators are unable to pay loan instalments.

As per reports, over 80 projects lay with uncertain futures because of the lack of subsidies and loan support.
