Hospital staff member accused of molesting female patient in Sabarmati

A complaint has been registered at the Sabarmati police station alleging that a hospital staff member molested a female patient during her treatment at a private hospital in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati area.
Police have begun an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the hospital.
According to the complaint, the incident reportedly took place at Matis Hospital, where a 30-year-old woman from the Ramnagar area of Sabarmati had been admitted to the intensive care unit. The woman had reportedly been hospitalised around three months ago after consuming 10 to 12 sleeping pills following a dispute with her husband.
The complainant alleged that on the morning following her admission, at around 6.30 am, she woke up to find herself being physically molested. She stated that she saw a male staff member, described as a nursing assistant on duty, fleeing the area immediately afterwards.
The woman informed hospital staff and her parents about the incident and requested access to the hospital’s CCTV footage. However, she alleged that the hospital staff refused to provide the footage at the time.
During the course of the investigation, police identified the accused as Indrajit Rathod, a resident of Asarwa. Meanwhile, as the woman’s condition worsened, she was shifted to UN Mehta Hospital for further treatment.
After her health improved, the woman lodged a formal complaint at the Sabarmati police station. Police have registered a case of molestation and initiated legal proceedings.
Further investigation is underway.
